Dr Esmie Mkwinda (Phd) – Deputy Vice Chancellor

Esmie joined Saint John of God College of Health Sciences in November 2020 as a College Principal. She has over 15 years of experience in teaching and administration in higher education.

Before joining Saint John of God College, she held the position of Deputy Research Director and Lecturer at Kamuzu College of Nursing. She holds a Philosophy degree (PhD) in Nursing Science, Masters of Advanced Practice, Masters in Educational Leadership, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nursing and a Diploma in Midwifery.

Esmie has been key in leading the college to attain the University status and accreditation of programmes by National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) in 2025. She then rose to the position of Deputy vice Chancellor and is also involved in teaching Health service Management, Leadership, Bioethics and research. Her current focus is on research capacity development, faculty capacity development, BSc, Masters and PhD research supervision. She is a seasoned researcher, publisher and consultant.
