Pharmacist Role

Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Pharmacist will among others, be responsible for dispensing of medications, quality testing, formulating and re-formulating dosage forms, monitoring and reporting drug safety, and preparing budges for medication.

Responsibilities (which include, but are not limited to):

  • Accurately preparing, dispensing, and supplying prescribed medications to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Ensuring correct dosage, formulation, and labelling.
  • Monitoring stock levels and managing the hospital pharmacy inventory.
  • Reviewing prescriptions to check for accuracy, safety, and potential drug interactions.
  • Counselling patients on the proper use of medicines, possible side effects, and storage.
  • Monitoring patient responses to medicines and adjust treatment when necessary.
  • Providing advice to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff on the safe and effective use of drugs.
  • Participating in therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacovigilance (tracking adverse drug reactions).
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to budget management and cost-effective use of medicines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (Hons)/Pharmacology
  • Proven experience as a pharmacist
  • Strong customer service abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Registered with Pharmacy Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA)
  • Strict adherence to the organisation’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy
  • Willingness to work with mentally ill patients and their families
