SAINT JOHN OF GOD BROTHERS COMMUNITY

VOCATION TO CONSECRATED LIFE
St John of God Brothers are happy to invite catholic young men who feel called to serve God in the person of the sick, the poor and the marginalised to make contact and learn more about St. John of God and his Brothers; more applicable in countries where we are present.

ST JOHN OF GOD BROTHERS WORLDWIDE
The order exists in all five continents of the world and in forty six different countries with over 293 hospitals, centres and community based programmes.

MALAWI
The Brothers are situated in Mzuzu the Northern region of the country where they provide a community based mental health service; rehabilitation programmes for adults and children with disabilities; drop in centre for vulnerable children found on the street; special education for children with learning disability; psychological and pastoral care to prisoners at Mzuzu prison; a college of health sciences for the training of psychiatric Nurses, Clinicians and professional counselors. 

CHARISM
Our charism in the church is that of hospitality, a gift of the spirit which leads us to follow the compassionate and merciful Christ of the gospel who went about doing good to all and healing in mind, body and spirit. Mat 4: 23, 25:34-46, Lk 10: 25-37

MISSION
The Order’s mission is to enhance quality of life.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS & QUALITIES FOR BROTHERHOOD TRAINING

  • A letter of application to the Vocations director
  • Recommendation letter from Parents or guardians, Parish Priest, and two referees preferably religious or Priests
  • Photocopy of Baptism and confirmation records in the Catholic Church
  • Someone who is single and free from marital, financial responsibilities and debts.
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Good academic qualifications allowing access to a University or tertiary learning institution where either medicine or any health related studies in line with our charism and ministry can be pursued.  Professionally qualified young men may also apply. MSCE with an aggregate of not more than 30 points.
